I know you're not suggesting but I'm just curious about this Kavent player. Any review??
Your review started off giving me hope since the unit in question, you claimed, cost $300. But it appears to be $350 plus $125 shipping. $300 sounds inviting but $475 is a different story. Could you clarify?
I had that player for a while too.Upgrade the output caps too, it made a HUGE difference over the solens that were in there.I really enjoyed it, I had it for about a year, and then started the quest for something better, it took another year, and there were some VERY high end offerings that I didn't like as much. I was using an EH output tube.-Paul
Standard Sonicaps, not platinums. Same value.I got an Ayre CX-7e. IMO the best player south of 10K asside from the other Ayre players.http://www.ayre.com/products_detail.cfm?productid=2Pretty standard player, but a really good clocking system and output stage, and a power supply that looks more at home in a 100W amp.No HDCD, No SACD, No DVD-A, just awesome redbook.-Paul
Not sure if the platinums were out then, and IIRC, they were 2.2uF, those would cost more than the player itself. The Ayre is 2950.00, so 10x the cost!!! !!!. I paid much less than that, but if you are in that kind of market, you have to listen to it. I compared it to quite a few and had it in my system for about a month before buying it, so I got a pretty solid audition in.-PaulHI Paul,Did you ever listen to the Rega Apollo CDPlayer? Just curious. Don't have 3K rolling around at the moment.Ray
