first off im not a great writer
for 300$ i cant see any way anyone could be disapionted with this unit
as you already know its built like a tank, has the best display ever and reads very fast.the remote is solid .
how does it sound
to me it is a sweet sounding unit, has nice depth and stage, instruments are well placed- bass is very strong and tight (was affraid about the lack bass after it was first hooked up)every bit as good as a ss cd player.
mids and vocals are

-boy they sound good to me- everything that ive played so far the vocals and guitar are sweet and easy to listen too.the top end was a little soft and rolled off for me before i changed the stock tube for a nos amperex, now it is very nice(ac/dc -long way to the top- bagpipe used to breakup and sound funny with other players when cranked, not any more i can crank it).the nos tube also appears to have better speed and rythm. it never sounds digital just smooth, i can listen all day with no ear bleed or headache

plays cd, cdr but not cdrw.
the hdcd is a great addition-wish i had heard the format before-
i have nothing high dollar to compare it to-this is the most expensive player ive bought so far.
is it perfect, no-i just cant find any faults that annoy me or any thing that bothers me about it either-it doesnt take alot to impress me i guess, just a solid build and a nice sound-the toshiba i discovered is still going strong at aa so my ear might not be too bad.
the unit does not have a warranty-you can buy one from the dealer(nysound)for 100$-i didnt

after looking inside i am not worried
