I love FZ's music but I'd probably piss him off for not burning his weenie sandwich correctly.

He'd throw his glass of wine at me and stub his smoke out in my face.

It would probably have to be Jeff Beck, but I'd probably piss him off too.  :green:

Rory Block. Her singing and playing speak directly to my soul.

A most interesting thread and I would have an extremely difficult time choosing between Ian Curtis and Rozz Williams. I would listen to what they wanted to talk about.

Be well...

Since we are talking about our guest making "living room" music, my picks are down to:

Robert Fripp & Brian Eno

(and)

Chris Whitley

Well, if it helps, you can tell your wife she's 63yrs old. Come to think of it, that might not help.

Ahhh Jeez... great topic.  I have to second Joni & James.  And...

Donald Fagen - just sit with me at the piano and show me some chords man
Rickie Lee Jones - if I can understand what she's saying...
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young... they'd all be interesting...
Harry Nilsson - Just sing a cappella and I'm happy!
Randy Newman - Harry can sing some of his songs while we drink and tell stories.
Oh, and Holly Cole... She's just cool.

Ya know..... I never gave my answer even though I started the thread as there's just too many to choose from, but the thought of Holly Cole sounds great. Whenever I think of Holly Cole I think of Hope Waits in the same breath. The two of them together would be......

Without a doubt it would be Tori Amos.  I owe her my deepest gratitude.  Little Earthquakes was and still remains the single most impactful album of my life...go figure.  I think I may be one of the very few men who actually got the "Little Earthquakes Experience" and wow was it something magical.

Second would be Buddy Guy

You know that some musicians will play for you in the comfort of your own home for a fairly reasonable sum (a few thousand). I saw Mike Keneally and Brian Beller at a friend's house a few years ago. He is a big fan and his wife bought him a nice birthday present having Mike and Brian play under a tent in the backyard for him and his friends. It was great talking with them between sets over a hot dog and a beer.

As for me, yeah I would have to go with Pat Metheny.

I cannot think of any musician who would not feel bored to tears being stuck around me.
Though I think I would like an afternoon with Joni Mitchell

Scott F.

Pat Metheny

In an unpublished interview, I sat with Pat for about 45 minutes a few years ago right after The Way Up came out. Really interesting guy. Hyper focused on pushing his envelope and skills. We talked about everything from his revisiting themes like Q&A to composing (specifically) with Antonio Sanchez. I should have published that interview but it was WAY too much typing.

I'd like to sit down with him aside from the business and get to know 'him' as a person.
