What are your AKSA 55W / 100W Speaker Output Offset Voltages?

And how did you go about it?
E.g. pig-tailing and leaving it as it is?
Or pig-tailing to the "right" value and then getting a single resistor to replace the 2 resistors?

Anyone ever tried using some sort of temporary trimpot to find the best value for the lowest offset, and then removing the trimpot, measuring its resistance, and then hunting down the appropriate value resistor?

Just brainstorming here...

How about an "I don't remember" option ;)

Hahaha!
Good one!

I suspect I will suffer the same once I get it all up and running!
(Just like I don't remember anything about my TLP Nirvana, apart from the fact that it sounds glorious!  8) )

Benny,

The output offset on the AKSA amplifier is controlled primarily by the mains voltage.  It moves up and down considerably, from about -30mV through to +30mV, depending on how accurately it's been set up originally.

The output offset on a modern dynamic speaker has no effect on the sound at all until it gets to about half a volt.  Anything under this, particularly up to about 100mV, has no effect at all on the sonics.  Believe me, I've tried all this.

Mains voltage is up and down like a yoyo because the mains grid has some VERY BIG current demands.  In Australia it can be as low as 232V and as high as 254V, as measured at my home supply.  In the States, and other countries using 120V distribution, it probably varies from about 112V to about 128V.  That's a big variation and it will affect the offset.

So, don't be too concerned about this;  in the scheme of things it is not important.

Cheers,

Hugh

Woah!

Those are some significant voltage variations in the mains!

Thanks for the tip, Hugh!

You were right about the effects of mains voltage on the Speaker Output Offset, Hugh.

Voltage offset of one of the monoblocks was -36.7 mV at 1 AM on a Monday night (Mains voltage higher since the general population is generally asleep and not drawing so much power).

Voltage offset of the same monoblock was -6 mV at 12 PM lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon.  :o

Boggles my mind
