You can though when you use thicker/denser and compress it, you're somewhat reconnecting the 2 sides of the wall. Just use fluffy or at most, Safe'n'Sound on one side and fluffy on the other.

My experience with Roxul is that you could also simply slice a channel into it where the opposing stud would otherwise interfere.

You might also be able to use their insulation designed for 2x6 walls.  Roxul cuts like butta with a bread knife, not hard to do, just dirty and time consuming!

I am very pleased with the results though, so it was well worth it for me.

Okay we have 5 1/2" of Roxul added to the staggered studs and double 5/8 drywall with GG. :)




Taping and mudding started today, start trim and finish out soon.  :green:

Exactly what i did, slice a channel into the 2x6 batt and stuff it in. Very time consuming and hoping it pays off. Thanks for the advise.
