Hey Carson, I hope that folks don't give you flack for doing a search, and bringing back a long thread about a great little amp!
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=16230&highlight=teac+bolder+vinnie is probably the reading you want to do, if you want my thoughts on how the stock unit, vs upgraded power supply, vs Bolder unit comparison went.
As for the battery powered unit - this is a source of some confusion - Vinnie did not DC my Teac, and I have never heard one - I mailed him off the PS, and he did some upgrades to it. As a layperson, the changes that he made are different from those that Wayne made, but hey, that is just me looking at the parts, and the boards themselves.
So, I have never heard the Red Wine DC Teac, but I would like to!
As for copper foil shielding, I know that fellow AC member lcrim did just that, and reported positive gains in sound. As I recall, he used copper flashing from Home Depot to his advantage...
Glad that you are happy with the Teac, I really like the two that I have - but, I have to admit, that using the Visaton b200 open baffle speakers, the baby JVC EX-A1 is a better match.
Now, I have just received a Felicia balanced power conditioner (there is a great thread on this in the Lab) and it will be interesting to see if that changes things. I know that every single person around here, that has tried balanced power with a tripath has responded positively, so I am really jacked to see what it does for my system!
Anyone who has a Teac probably should read through this thread, there was some excellent best practice sharing that came as a result of it.
Have a great one Carson,
