Rigid Thinking

Did you ever get something into your head that things just HAVE to be the way they are?
I put on some Doors in memory of Ray Manzarek and was walking around downstairs and it struck me that it sounded best from the kitchen instead of from the couch.
I grabbed the right hand speaker and gave it a good twist to the right,

grabbed the left hand speaker and gave it a tug to the left.

This is pretty much how I had the 3.7s and guess what?
After a quick walk around the place it sounds best from the listening spot.
I did a little additional screwing around with the angles since the pictures were taken, messed with the drapes some and all is well.
The moral to this bit is it's a mistake to get locked into thinking that something HAS to be done a certain way or else it won't work right.
I should remind myself of that once every so often!

I've found that the perfect speaker position is the one you had them in and somehow forgot to mark with tape.

Where mine are right now between my two large diffuser arrays it's like oh my god...

Every time I walk into my room I think, no, it can't really be that good, I'm imagining it, be objective self, be objective, it's the only way to improve, then I sit down and hit play.

always have tape. My floor was once crisscrossed with it when first getting accustomed.
