LOL!   The holiday may slow the shipping, but I'm hopefully you will be enjoying your Lampi this weekend.   :thumb:

As far as rectifier tubes, I keep going back and forth between a bendix 6106 and valvo gz34.  The gz34 seems more linear with great bass.  The bendix is a little punchier but with a hump in the lower mids that blurs my sound a bit.  Both are much better than the stock tube.

I can also second/third the recommendation of a sistrum platform under the lampi.  It made a real improvement in my setup that took a couple of days to fully develop.

Has anyone experimented with cables?  I am currently running a wywires gold digital cable in, hidiamond 2 interconnects out, and a hidiamond d3 power cord.  I have been reading with interest the high fidelity ct-1 thread on agon but unfortunately/fortunately? they don't make a balanced cable yet.

Hope you don't mind a change of topic. I'm curious what amp and speakers Lampi owners use with their dac. I am interested in new speakers, preferably full range, and was just wondering what owners use. Thanks.

L4/G4  I'm using W4S amps, Salk SS8 speakers (not full range)  and the dac as the pre.  Curious why you are thinking full range? For efficiently? A fellow member, the person who turned me on to Lampizator and has the best sounding system I ever heard ( full analog ), had a pair of Daedalus speakers. I cant get that sound out of my head it was intoxicating.

Audioclyde, you are replacing the Meitner MA-1 with a Lampi L5?

Geardaddy:  we will see if the Lampi unseats the Meitner!   What can I say, I love tubes :o.

Seriously, the Lampi will have to be really good to replace the Meitner, but I'm optimistic.

Andrew, I recently went to a dealer to audition an Antipodes server and he had a Meitner DAC although I'm not sure which one but I think it was an MA-1. I brought my Lampi L4/G4 along to test compatibility with the Antipodes and even though I had only a brief audition I think the Lampizator surpassed the Meitner and it really wasn't warmed up. I could tell the dealer was quite impressed with the Lampizator and he started asking questions about it.

Audioclyde, you should be ashamed of yourself....

Howard, I have heard positive scuttlebutt about the antipodes server.

Not surprised to hear that about the Lampi.  It has bested dacs more pricey than the MA-1....

Sharing my experiences here. I was getting the snaps and crackles when switching between different resolution files. So I switched everything to upsample the same resolution in Audirvana. I chose 176 because I thought I read that here. All was good for a day or two but then started to notice a hum  in between songs or when pausing or muting.  I tried itunes and there was no hum. I went back and changed the Audirvana to 192 and then there is no longer a hum. Weird. Can any one explain this. I should add that it is only when connecting through USB. When I used the spdif form my Off Ramp 5 there was no hum.

I think the idea is to make your dac work less so setting it to the native resolution will do that.  My Amanero chipset is 192 and I would suspect yours is the same.  I set all my choices in JRiver to 192.  Only a large pop when I hit play and hit stop.  Normally during a session I use pause or just skip to another song within playlists so no issues.  This was Trung's idea and it worked for me.

Are these popping issues with all DACs in the same setup or just the Lampi?

As some of you are aware I have encountered some incompatibilities with the proto DSD Lampis I've listened to so far.  No big deal; they have been rectified.  However, since I am on to other eval commitments now during the lull we have come to a decision that we will put off a full eval until after the holidays...when Lukasz builds me a new DSD DAc with what he's learned from my feedback, etc.  (Note: again, most of it is purely parochial to my setup, a 2V RMS limitation, etc etc).

With all that being said, I still have one question about the DSD-only DAC I still have here (and am breaking in for the next guy).  That question surrounds absolute polarity.  My Concert Fidelity pre, like most tubed output stages, inverts polarity (i.e the mfg points out that the simple fix is to swap black/red speaker wire amp leads on both channels).  This issue is also prevalent in quite a few tubed analog stages (Modwright mods, etc).  Yet I've never heard a Lampi owner talk about it, and I can't seem to get an answer from Lukasz.  Do you folks swap your speaker wire amp leads (again, I am NOT talking about out of phase issues that are corrected by fixing ONE channel...those anomalies are mistakes and not a result of tubed output stages)?

Ted, I have never heard that the Modwright mods require a polarity adjustment. I do know that is the case with his pre amps. How would one deal with one component being out of phase and all the rest being in phase?  I hope this isn't the issue with the Lampi.

I've owned a L3 Gen3, L4 Gen 4 and now a BIG L6 Gen 4. Never did I have to swap SCs (change polarity). I also never changed SCs with my Modwright Transporter I had for while.

I will be speaking with Lukasz this week, and will certainly bring this topic up in conversation.

I've never heard of any Lampizator owners having polarity difugalties in all of my research.
