Hi Ampdesigner,

The attenuation is Analog, not digital. It is a stepped resistor ladder with only 2 resistors even in the path no matter the level of attenuation.

The DAC output impedance is either 600ohms or 1K ohm.
IIRC, I think the minimum input impedance it can handle from the amps is 10k-15K ohm.

The Lampi has coax and remote for the VC.

Only Level 5 with the 2 box solution has enough space. Otherwise he sells a DSD only Dac in a single box. He needs lots of space to isolate DSD from PCM and DSD components themselves are bulky.

The Count is NOT Glory. I know Glory ( Fla Resident) and if you read earlier in the thread, though he owns a L5 Lampi, he keeps pushing the Ming Dac.

The count has a Level 4.

Hola ! this is Lampizator on the line. This would be such a pleasure to win this contest and of course we do make fully balanced fully tubed DACS, with remote volume or without. I could cook something special, like a hot rodded level 4 , with my secret caps and tubes. I just need to know if the high resolution files will be used or not.
If there will be volume, we can also add DSD because we need the remote to activate DSD. Without volume - impossible.

Nothing important, but see posts 30, 34, 35, etc. in the thread.

Who, me?

_______

I believe someone(s) is lost here; 'glory' for me means victory, the smell of victory, ...someone's happy with his new gear.
...And that, to me is a glorifying experience.

What is it sometimes with some people; they see some' else that no one else does.

There is a member with screen name "Glory" here.  That's probably the confusion.

LoL

Glory is a noted person on this forum and I along with others thought you were confusing the Count with him (due to the quotation marks).

No biggie, sorry for the confusion.

Can I ask a favor of all you Lampizator owners?

Can you please put your ear to you speaker and tell me if you hear any hum at all?

In my previous post I've mentioned my issue with hum. I also had the unit in a friends system who also experienced the hum.

My Lamp is  with the authorized repair person here in the US and so far he hears hum only with the preamp at full volume. I understand I should expect hiss from the tubes but not hum under any circumstance. Correct?

There was no hum through my 101db sensitivity speakers with my Level 4, (now happily owned by Paul Frolbrect) and my Big Six is out for delivery now--I'll let you know on that, but I'm sure it will be fine.

Emil my Plinius CDP hummed like a mother. It has a ground lift switch which when changed the hum just disappeared. Sounds like a ground loop issue or bad RCA connector, cold solder joint or tube.

98db speaks and my L4 is dead quiet on a all tube rig including the tubed digilampizator transport.

Your welcome to hear it Emil as I know we don't live far.

I had the pleasure of hearing Grants aka Lissnr new Lamp 6 this past Saturday and Monday and I think you heard it too Emil (if not mistaken).  It was dead quiet with those very revealing and fast Apogee ribbon speakers.  Both visits were very short,  but I did get a feel for the big 6.

The Vcaps are famous for a rough break in but the 6 sounded musical and extended nonetheless. A lil hard on the vocals which is to be expected on 4day old plastic caps.  (we did compare 4  and 6 back to back briefly on Mon). I'm not a reviewer but the most obvious difference was when Grant played a stand up bass track. Both were equally musical to my surprise but the 6 had alot more organic information, control and purity over the 4. I could hear the strings being plucked , the sound of the bass notes and the decay all separated perfectly where the 4 did this with aplomb as well it was alot less fleshed out. I could happily live with the 4 forever but I know now why Lukasz call this his "desert island dac".

So....

It hums at my home, Mike's home and the techs home but only at full volume on his preamp.

No hum on Gophers and Berto ultra high sensitivity speakers and Grants Apogees.

Emil,

My big six just got delivered.  If you want to try bringing your DAC over on Sunday (or maybe to my parents house which is closer to you) we could compare lamp to lamp and see what the story is.  I hate that you're having an issue, but I'm confident it will get sorted.
