My level 4 is balanced. It has 4 copper Jensen caps and 4 ecc40's as well as a tube rectifier. The dac gets hot but I use a quiet 120mm computer fan connected to a motorcycle battery to keep it cool.

I assume you had you DAC made with a balanced topology from the beginning? I wonder if my sided-ended 4/4.5 can be made balanced. I will contact Lukasz about doing that in the future since my pre amp is balanced.

Did you experience a big change from 100 hours to 500?

I am assuming that there are some others who have the PCM + DSD G4/L4 DACs. Can you tell me if you have to depress the front button to play DSD files? I thought that I had to but I only get sound when it is in the out position, the same as for PCM.

Update on this. With the help of Ted B I now have DSD going to my Lampi and it works as designed. Once this is truly broken in I will be able to compare DSD and PCM from ripped SACDs.

It seems like most USB cables carry both while many DACs don't require power.

Perhaps the DSD DAC is different.

I have a L4.5/G4 with DSD but I was trying with PCM.
