GR SW12-16 dual OB subwoofer question
« on: 17 Apr 2013, 09:23 pm »
Suppose I order a 370PQ plate amplifier and a pair of GR 12 drivers for an OB and I do not like the results, can I put these in a sealed box, and would it work?
Thanks

Yeah, you can run them in a sealed box or infinite baffle design. The box volume is pretty large for a sealed box design though.

About 4 cu.ft., right Danny?

Can I use only one of them in a sealed box? What would the 16 ohm impedance mean? Can a resistor be added to bring the impedance down? Thanks

Yes, at least 4 cubic feet per woofer will be fine.

A single woofer in a sealed box would limit amp power to about 125 watts peak. Resistors can not be added...

I have a 4 ohm lower Q version of that woofer for those applications.
