Enclosure shape vs volume

This question is in regards to the shape of the enclosing box for a sealed
subwoofer alignment... As long as the enclosure's internal volume is correct,
does it actually matter what shape that volume occupies?

I ask because I recall your stating somewhere that having more 'depth' behind
the driver affects the response /voicing of a cone driver in a beneficial way?

Does following the Golden Ratio for a rectanglar enclosure yield any benefits?

After having gone back & forth on different alignments for years, I'm thinking
a sealed subwoofer that is tall, somewhat wide and rather shallow may offer the
most flexibility in placement options.

Thanks :)

I'm no acoustical or mechanical engineer, but my amateur view on this subject is:

1- The smaller the baffle, the better. Less flexing of unsupported wood, and the resulting resonance.

2- The lower the center of gravity of the cabinet, the better. Less "rocking" of the cabinet in response to the cone's movement.

3- For the same reason as #2, a short, deep cabinet is more stable than a tall, shallow one.

As for Golden Ratio, etc......at subwoofer frequencies, those issues don't matter.

For a mid-range or mid-bass driver, yes. For a sub-woofer, no.
