FS: PS3 ready to rip SACDs! SOLD
« on: 7 Apr 2013, 02:59 pm »
I ended up with two Sony PS3's and installed the SACD ripper software on each.  As I have my SACD collection ripped with no issues, I feel like I should part with my back up unit and let other enthusiasts have a chance, since these are hard to come by.

I only ripped a couple of SACDs with this unit to verify all was working properly, so no worries regarding impending YLOD issues from my ripping.

Asking what I paid (actually less on a net basis)--$300 inclusive of PayPal & shipping fees OBO.  CONUS only please.

Thanks,

Randy

SOLD; thanks Jeff!

Randy,

That is a great price, especially on a unit that is verified.  You could have easily put the price much higher...very classy.

Guys, this is the best deal I've seen on one of these...if you want to rip your SACD's, this is currently the only way (short of VERY expensive pro gear, of course).  Jump on this before it's gone!

If you don't know how to do this, basically you use a three step method: the PS3 (must be a particular model that with an old firmware...hard to find) rips an ISO file.  You then run a script file to extract DFF/DSD files. You then play those on a DSD ready DAC or you can convert them to high resolution PCM files (AIFF, FLAC, etc) via AudioGate by KORG (free with a Twitter account).

Good luck with the sale...
John

It is a great deal.  If I wasn't in the process of relocating, I'd buy it as a back up.

Thanks guys; I just look at it as a way of trying to share our passion--I'm not looking to make any profit.   Heck when and if it sells I'll just end up buying different audio goodies such as tubes, cables etc.  :D!

Great deal for whoever got it. I already have mine, and FWIW, at least IME, there is no need for the Step 2 described by InfernoSTi. The software I installed on my PS3 extracts directly to a choice of ISO, DSD, DST, or DSF in either 2-channel or mch as available. In checking the approach of extracting an ISO file and then exacting the individual tracks with a script, versus the direct extraction method, files come out the same.  The process of setting up your PS3 can be a bit laborious, which is the real reason this was such a great deal, but once done, the workflow is routine.

This may sound a little crazy, but have you thought about renting the unit out for say, $100/month.

I only have about 150 SACDs to rip and I do have a newer model PS3, so I only need access to it for a few weeks.
