You're welcome.
When I bought my old 1.6s the owner had them set up in this really tiny room in a NYC apartment.
They sounded really good and he was driving them with a 60 WPC integrated McIntosh tube amp.
You don't necessarily need Madison Square Garden for them.

I think Steve is spot on. I have a 13 x 14 room and while I'd like a larger one, the MMG's sounded great in them and that means the 1.7's will do even better. And if you add a couple of QRD diffusors behind the speakers at the first reflection points, it will make the room larger acoustically.

Thanks all.  I spoke to the Magnepan dealer here in Connecticut yesterday and they went over the options, costs, and delivery.  I will be placing an order for a pair of 1.7s.

My room is about 12' x 17'.  Usually use a 700 wpc (into 4 ohms) power amp but today swapped that out and inserted my Dennis Had Inspire 5 wpc EL84 single-ended Class A tube amp.  Listening at moderate volume to some Alan Parsons and in this condo, volume is fine...no clipping happening and sounds very nice.   You don't need mega-power if your room is small and volumes not crazy loud.
