Organizing some file in JRiver
« on: 19 Mar 2013, 06:38 pm »
I have some files that somehow got fragmented on JRiver. It took a disc and turned it into single songs on JRiver. Does anyone know how to go about turning it back into one record?

Thanks,

Mark

When you right (mouse) click on the song and select 'tag' what does it show?

Mark, I guess you mean that all the tracks are tagged with the same information?  Is there just one folder for the album on the PC?

Phil,
First thank you for your help.
I am thinking the problem may be that there are various artists on each track. The album title is the same, track numbers, and artists differ.

I have had this happen - when I copied abt 2K files to a new PC I got abt 10 tracks out of place, all added to some album that seemed unrelated.  I just changed the tag info on each track to match those that were placed correctly.  If "Album Artist" is the same and the album name is the same, they should appear in the same album on Jriver.  You may need to screw with it a while to get it all straight - sometimes it is easier to delete the files and re-rip, making sure you have album artist and title set the way you desire.

Glynnw,

After doing a few I am thinking it might be easier to go downstairs and dig through my boxes of CD's to find the ones that need to be reripped. If I had alot to do I would certainly do that. But just a couple more to do. It happened when I transfered all music to a different harddrive. Though I am not sure why it only happened to a small number.

This where a back-up system could come into play perhaps.
