Well, I finally caught this one tonite and was pleasantly surprised! The reviews were hit and miss, but I thought it was thoroughly wonderful through and through! It's one of James Franco's best roles to date and Rachel Weiss was terrific (and drop dead gorgeous, I might add! Has she aged a day since '98?). Initially I wondered about a "prequel" to the Wizard of Oz; would it add anything to the story? Well, I feel that it does! If nothing else it's neat to see Oz reimagined.
I'll probably pick this one up on Blu-Ray when it comes out. No, it's not a masterpiece for the ages, but to be honest I don't really think tWoO was up there in the top 20 anyways. A very entertaining popcorn flick that genuinely displays a lot of heart. Guess that's the best thing about it for me.
