New 3 part Dracula is a great reinterpretation.  Segments are long enough...well over 1 hour,  to be short movies.  The script, FX, and story is well told and I found the ending fascinating!

I was in the mood for a western when a film I hadn't seen popped up in a news feed:

In a Valley of Violence made in 2016

Definitively a "B" revenge movie about a loner (Ethan Hawke) and an authoritarian Marshall (John Travolta), but entertaining and better than a lot of stuff on Netflix.

There is an interesting tie-in to a bunch of stuff I have been watching. Ethan Hawke has an excellent performance as Elora's father in Reservation Dogs, season 3, episode 9. Elora’s auntie Teenie dropped the bomb that Elora’s father didn’t actually die in a motorcycle accident with her mother. Nope, he’s some white guy who’s been hanging around Tulsa and now Elora needs to find him to sign college loan application papers.

In a Valley of Violence's writer and director is Ti West. His last two films were the terrific "X" and "Pearl." I reviewed both films and looking forward to "MaXXXine", the third film in the trilogy.

X (2022) - Ti West's classic horror, slasher, porno film

Pearl (2022) - an origin story by Ti West

The last John Travolta film I saw was "Paradise City" (2022) which was memorable because it is one of the last films Bruce Willis made.

I thought the show about Dolly Parton was really good. I didn't know much about her.

Been watching Midnight Diner.  There is something cathartic about the show.  Each episode is it's own 30 min vignette.  My wife likes it also, but same as me, surprised that we are captivated??  Anyhow, may not be for everyone but so far, so good.

Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis)

The story of Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey "Po" Powell, the creative geniuses behind the iconic album art design studio, Hipgnosis, responsible for some of the most recognizable album covers of all time.

With Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Roger Waters, Noel Gallagher, Nick Mason, Peter Gabriel and a killer soundtrack.

Society of the Snow - the true story of survival in the Andes Mountains for 72 days with no food.

"In 1972, the Uruguayan Air Force flight 571, chartered to transport a rugby team to Chile, experiences an unexpected incident and crashes into a glacier in the heart of the Andes. Of the 45 passengers on board, only 16 manage to survive. Trapped in one of the most inaccessible and hostile environments on the planet, they are forced to resort to cannibalism to stay alive. Their survival will depend on the decisions they make in the midst of this desperate situation."

They Cloned Tyrone is great.  Love the nods to 70’s blaxsploitation.

On Tyson recommendation I watched "X" by Ty West.  My first thought was that it was a parody of bad X rated films.  Then I realized that if it was coming across as a bad semi porno, then it has to take the blame as simply being a bad semi porno... so, not recommended.
