You all can get nearly real time comments about the first F1 test session for the year now occurring in Italy for the next three days here.

gpupdate.net    (copy this into your browser window)

The first day of testing just ended and Button was quickest in the new McLaren!

Lots of info here and links to other sites too.

I so want a "Jenson" button for my car. Love the Lotus wheel, truly.

Don't follow the F1 circuit as it seems to get very scant coverage here but I did read recently they have a race lined up in N.J. along the Hudson later this year.

Thanks for all the info & links FRM (you too Frank)  :thumb:  Should be an interesting season, we'll see how NBC handles it. I think it's Hobbs & Machet that made the move, Varsha had continuing contractural obligations with Speed.

Hey guys! Good to see the F1 banter starting again! Thanks for the links Frank and FRM.

NBC F1 pages, pretty fancy!
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/3159563/

http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/nascar/index.asp?page=standings&series=FORM1

http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/nascar/schedule.asp?series=FORM1

Note the NASCAR directory in the URL...

I imagine it will be rough going in the beginning, it is NBC after all. But NBC will be reminded why they did this when the huge ratings come in along with a flood of complaints that it is not as good as SpeedTV used to be. They will want to sell ads so they will have to react. Hopefully that will motivate them to develop the show and be half decent by the end of the season, or next...

I just pray, PRAY that Derek Daly, Paul Page and Danny Sullivan are barred from the booth. I gave up watching IndyCar because of them.

To confirm something mentioned earlier, I was just checking out Will Buxtons Twitter page and he lists himself as a reporter for NBC's F1 coverage.
I really enjoyed his candid and harried reports when he was on Speed, the team is there for NBC. Now we just need the TV schedule for the US-that hasn't been seen has it????

Another pity is the Cam-Am series also dont exist anymore, which led me to watch old races in YT, to see those beautiful cars running.

fwiw this is a great video.

Amazon link

Probably the only time I can say I didn't mind Sam Posey's narrative. This focuses primarily on the big boys of the series, McLaren, Penske, Jim Hall, but it certainly is a blast from the past. I saw 2 CanAms back in the day, one at Road America. I had the opportunity thru a fellow SCCA friend to visit one of the privateer's shop north of Indy. They were & are undoubtedly some of the most impressive automotive machinery ever built. If you have any vintage races in your area you should check them out, you may see some CanAms, TransAms, as well as local club racers. The local races had one of the UOP Shadows that Jackie Oliver drove a few years back.

Thanks Arthur for the tip, I will look this DVD on Amazon.
My favorite cars are the less winners as Lolas, March, Shadow, Chaparral fan car, and the elegant McLaren M20.

Massa set fast time in day 3 testing today, a minute and 17 seconds +, best time of the test days so far.

However, it did not look like anyone else was trying really hard for a really hot time.  Most just droning around running aero, tire, and other tests.  No major issues.  Mercedes put in nearly 2 and a half race distances, making up for mechanical issues on first 2 days.

They say track surface is VERY abrasive and worn out, much worse than any normal season track surface so tire testing could not provide useful results, they wore out really fast.

Oficial version: Alonso was absent from the Jerez tests due to be doing a fitness program.

Journalists ranked the teams in 4 levels for this year:
1) Red Bull, McLaren
2) Lotus, Ferrari
3) Mercedes, Sauber, Force India
4) Others

So with motogp the motorcycle equivalent you can buy an online subscription to the years races and qualifying.
Is that not possible for f1?
