The price has now been corrected to $1,248.99 and the scam seller removed, so the response to the incorrect listing was fairly quick from Amazon after I and whoever else sent in corrections.

So hilarious that the price of this table is now $1,248.99, I remember not very long ago when you could get it for $248.99, where are the $1,000 in improvements to the table?  A not too bad Japanese table that is fairly robust and not as clouded and vague sounding as many of it's competitors, but not worth more than $300 tops.

I don't know how these linkages work on Amazon, but I just assumed it got linked into the TT by mistake.  Maybe something intentional or nefarious is going on, but can anyone say that for sure?

Amazon doesn't work like that. The item description was for a 1210 MK5 and those sellers were listed for selling that particular item, not an accessory.  That slip mat notice wasn't even part of the item description, it was under the seller price/shipping info, which I obviously didn't notice. I didn't say it's a scam, but it could have been.

Excuse me for trying to let everyone know what looked like a great deal.

Yes, right before they we're discontinued, you're correct.  However before they became a boutique item, they were really cheap.  Under $500 new and many times discounted to way below that.  Not even close to worth today's asking price.

You're thinking of the 1200 MKII, but the last few years even before there was a hint of being discontinued, they became very popular with "Official Technics 1200 owners Club" threads on Asylum and VE.  "not worth more than $300 tops" is bullshit. There's nothing out there for $300 new, that competes. The 1210 MK5 was a more expensive model with upgraded arm wire and I'm not sure what else.  Even though John TCG had a somewhat less than thrilling experience with a vintage and damaged 1200 MKII, the tables have much to recommend, including dead-on speed stability, precision pitch control, and immunity from feedback. It's my understanding that the current AT imitation LP 120 ($300) isn't isn't even close to the 1200.  I haven't heard the AT, but 1200/1210 with proper tweaking would smoke an early HW19 IMO, and you don't need an additional speed box to keep time.  The 1200 is the same as the pro SP 25, but in a complete package. I can mod a 1200 for high end performance. There's not much you can do with a table that doesn't spin at the right speed.

Edit: Maybe that last part was a bit harsh, the HW19 has other qualities that surpass the 1200. I give a high priority for correct speed, more so than many other people.
