PI Audio Group DISCREET USB cable
« on: 21 Oct 2012, 01:46 am »
Had Dave build me one of his new DISCREET USB cables and picked it up at RMAF.

Will be trying it out with the MS-1 and M2Tech Evo setup for listening sessions.   Will also give it a try with the CIAudio Transient MKII DAC with the MS-1.

Not it is listening fun time!  WOOHOO! :)

It sounds better than my Wireworld Starlight USB cable.

It is custom made for my application where I do not need or want USB power on the cable with my M2Tech Evo USB to I2S Bus adaptor from the MS-1.

I also had Dave make a BatteryBUSS powered USB cable for another application.  This works well for USB powered devices that need clean 5VDC power.  Very nice indeed!

These are part of the supercomputing digital crossover project trials for my setup.

Danny's say I.  He has the stuff.. as opposed to; " Hey, open up.  It's Dave... I've got the stuff!!!"  hehe, heh.  Inside joke, eh?

Dave made me a BatteryBUSS powered DISCREET USB cable for some listening trials as well.  Sounds really good as well with the MS-1!

This is for devices that need clean USB power like DAC's that are bus powered.

As an example, I tried my Musiland Monitor 01 Mini USB powered DAC with headphone amp.  You could hear low level power supply noise with the standard USB cable from my netbook and MS-1.  Put in the powered DISCREET USB cable and dead quiet playback.  Not bad for a $65 async DAC!
