Ah for the good ole days when the knees worked without issue.
Oh, don't get me started! After my session on the rowing machine and the elliptical yesterday, the stairs in our house were my enemy this morning...
I attended one of the Mahre Brothers' ski camps at Keystone back in 1990. There were just six of us "students," plus Phil Mahre, Steve Mahre, and three other coaches. It was an unforgettable experience, skiing with some of the best in the world for eight or more hours every day for a week. One member of our group broke his leg on the last run on the last day.
The camp started out by having each of us do a timed run through a slalom course, then concluded with us doing the same run on the last day so we could see our improvement. Everyone took at least three seconds off their time. Then the Mahres did the run, and they beat our best by at least two seconds. Olympians are truly a different species.
