Not sure how much weight they can hold, but if the overall height is truly 12", the usable clearance height between modules would be less than 12" and the ~12.375" standard album cover height would not fit.  If the topmost unit is covered with the optional lid, that clearance height would be even less.

IKEA's range of Exepdit shelves are the most widely recognised affordable DIY shelving solution for storing vinyl LPs.

Welcome glennb.  Yes, we have a couple of threads on Exepdit and other Ikea products.  And some nice posts on modding the Exepdit to better handle LP's, as well as some alternatives.  Pumkinman is focused on those alternatives, as anything easy is abhorrent to him.   :icon_lol:
