Which Hifiman 400 is newer- the 'i' or the 'S'? (Just wondering, just bought new headphones so not a prospective customer)

189 tho, pretty hard to beef too much about that.

The i came from the original 400.
The S came from the HE560,
both single side magnets.

Just to make things interesting (and confusing), now there's the Sennheiser HD58x from Massdrop for $149. Some similar traits of both the 580 and 650 (but probably has plastic baffle plates instead of the carbon fiber ones in the 650) and 150 ohm drivers. Can't see the show without a program...

The Focal Elex drop currently going looks pretty sweet! The Elear remind me of HD650's but with more punch and top end, so these should be interesting

Hm, torn. I like my 599s more than the 650, thanks to the more forward and absolutely gorgeous midrange. Can't tell where this 580 falls on the spectrum...

A very cursory look around the interweb, people (like 3 people) seem to think it's a knock off of an older audeze design.
