I'm not sure that this qualifies as a "hot deal" but for those in Sydney AU Len Wallis is still selling HD-650s for $500. I realize that isn't the cheapest you can get them anywhere but it's cheaper than getting them from headroom and you can go and listen to them first.

Staples has the Sony DR-701IP for on closeout for $40.  Lists for $150.
I just went to the Staples in Hawthorne, Ca (next to Costco).  They had these little foamboard things for the 701's, I grabbed one, gave it them, they went in back and brought out the cans.  There was one more foamboard out when I left, so that store should have one pair left.

This came up about a week ago on head fi, and I went to a few staples last week and didn't see any.  But, I think you need to either ask someone, or find the foamboard thing
There is no sign anywhere saying that these are on sale, so you might get lucky and find them still.
 
Took a quick listen, not broken in, but they sound good, especially for $40.
They are the iphone version of the MDR-ZX700, search for "A11" on this page for a review.

Radioshack has their Auvio headphones on sale for half price $9.99. In stock form they are a tad grundgy, but if you remove the small metal grill in the ear canal and use the smallest size silicon tip the sound is quite respectable. Similiar bang for the buck as the MEE M9 which I also own.

The M9's are more detailed than the Auvio's' I would decribe the Auvio's as being smoother and more euphonic.

Ha! I lived a 1/2 mile from that store up until a month ago. I stopped by the store in Torrance on my drive home and all they had was a display model, which they wouldn't sell. They allegedly checked the other local stores and said all the other stores were sold out. Plus, the sale price tag said $64.95, not $40.

Glad you grabbed yours and hope they make you happy.

However, they checked and did find some other stores around LA that still have them, so they are still out there.

I listened a little more last night and this morning, still burning them in, but I think that if you can score them for $40 they really are a killer deal. On head-fi, Joker gave them a value rating of 8.5 out of 10 (subjective of course), at a price of $120.

I can drive them out of either my iphone or with better sound out of my hisoundaudio studio, and they sound fine.  Sound better still with an amp, but the amp is not required.

I have a pair of the SR-80s that Grado Labs makes that I listen to at work.  They are an open ear design, so you can't turn them up as loud if you have neighbors close by, but for the money, I haven't heard anything quite as good.

I had a chance to go and listen to the RS1i model near where I live, and they are amazing, but much more expensive.  If you are looking for a cheaper pair of very good sounding headphones, I would recommend checking out either the SR-8i0 or the SR-125i/225i.  These aren't on sale right now, but I have found them to be a very good deal even at retail price.

Thanks Mate, after checking Amazon/newegg deals for the holidays i was a bit disappointed. Most of the discount headphones were beats by dre, and such headphones.

Razordog deals have $50 or $100 Instant Rebate on certain headphones, they are sennheiser/akg/beyer authorized retailers.

With the rearangement of the site, I couldn't find this circle. Anyhow, a friend gave me a pair of the Senda Wooden headphones from CCrane company. They are $60. I don't really trust my ears any more as far as tonal balance goes, but they do seem to be fairly dynamic. I am using them on my computer at the moment. There have been times, when these phones spook you in to thinking there is someone in the room with you. They have little tiny holes going around the top of the phones just below the headband. So I guess you could say these are semiopen phones. They are on the ear type, and I can wear these for hours. my Sony phones after awhile start to feel uncomfortable to wear.

Anyhow, just wondered if anyone else has listened to them yet? They do have a short brake in time, like a couple of hours. The cable is attached by two 1/8 inch plugs, one on each phone. 

it might be my ears, but they seem to have a slight emphasis in the lower mids--upper bass area. At first you hear some resonance which seems to go away after awhile. Anyhow, just was curious, if any takers yet?
