Right way to connect 2 Subs from my preamp
« on: 10 Sep 2012, 01:00 am »
I'm about to take possesion of an SVS SB12 NSD sub that I will connect to my Dodd preamp. I already have a Cain & Cain Bailey sub plugged into the Dodd. Both are active subs. I've never used 2 subs before, one will be on the back wall to the right of my sofa (listening position), one to the left

This may be a ridiculous question but it just occured to me - won't I want left channel going to one sub and right to the other to achieve a stereo image? Seems like if I'm plugging one sub into left and right channel outs on the Dodd and the other to a second set of left and right outs I'll get the same feed to both subs and have mono, or maybe I'm just overthinking it or having an over 50 moment.

Any idea what the ideal connection would be for best sound? Again, I apologize if this is a dumb question and i appreciate any suggestion you may have!!

Here's a mid 50's moment:I went from R+L preouts with a single cable that Y's at about a foot out on each one.
The right side  Y to amp and sub and the left side Y to amp+sub.
My pre is balanced so the cables are XLR's.
R+L=Stereo.....
