GR Research Sub Boxes For Sale
« on: 7 Sep 2012, 01:22 pm »
Is there a strong desire for Baltic Birch sub boxes for Danny's 12inch and 300/370 servo amp?  Would there be enough people out there who want them if I built 20 of them?  Feel free to respond either way. ($225 dollars?)

3/4 Baltic Birch
45 degree knocked down edges or round over
1.5 inch front baffle
no feet
paint or stain if needed (add 25)

I'll take one if you make them.  I just need clarification on shipping.

shipping would be what ever it cost from 54601 to you.. no more no less.  If you have an account with ups or fedex, great..

Can you do them in 3/4 MDF, finished or in flatpacks ?

I would be interested in 2 boxes eventhough shipping may kill me to 93010.

Its not too bad, but I understand that sometimes shipping is or is not worth the build.   Gottcha..

I don't like doing sub flat packs for myself, I like to make sure the edges match up perfectly.  Shipping is usually the same due to LBS not size.. JP

Hi!
Are you willing to build boxes without amp cutout?

vin 69... sure, but i am not sure why you would want this?  feel free to explain.  I have done these in the past, but they were used with and outboard amp and the no servo driver.. danny does not sell no servo's anymore (i think) thus you would need a servo amp???   Fill me in.

I do have 2 of GR SW-12b drivers that I can use enclosures for. Also TC sounds Epic 12 also has almost similar cutout dimensions.

What is the difference between these cabinents and the build by Rythmic?

Baltic Birch plywood vs. MDF
1.5" vs. .75" front baffle (?)

6 of these and a half dozen of another.   1.5 inch front baffle just like the plan Danny sends out.  Four ribs in the middle, baltic stains well and is easy to match to speakers you may or may not have.  I like baltic because of the staining and painting ease, limited dust-MDF is terrible, I can get it easy, like the density, enjoy some grain look, but I can not speak to Brian's cabinets since I do not have one.  Others?   Differences, maybe none, I don't know.

How would one do the grill?  Could you make them too?

Im not a grill fan, but 1/4 mdf or ply with inserts or glue magnets on the inside before you put the driver in.  the super duper magnets can go through 1.5 inches of wood with ease.  Local store for cloth, similar to what i have done for super v's and V2's.
