This sucker takes your dirty AC from the wall, converts it to DC, and then regenerates it as squeaky clean, steady 120V AC again. From Robert Deutsch's review in S'phile:

I bought it new from authorized dealer, took it out of the box, and never removed it from the stand until I took the photos. Maybe a year and a half of use on it. There's an inch-and-a-half hairline crack on top of the case in back (you can see it in the photo from the back). Haven't a clue how it got there, but the piece is otherwise minty. Have original double box and all accessories, including remote.
