This sucker takes your dirty AC from the wall, converts it to DC, and then regenerates it as squeaky clean, steady 120V AC again. From Robert Deutsch's review in S'phile:

"AC voltage varies, sometimes enough to damage equipment, and the waveform is never a pure 60Hz sinewave. All power supplies of all audio components must deal with these realities, and to varying degrees, they do a reasonably good job of it. The vast majority of consumers are perfectly happy plugging their audio equipment into the wall, and except for occasional damage caused by voltage spikes and surges, that equipment generally works. It's only when you compare the sound of equipment supplied raw AC with their sound on a diet of regenerated AC that you realize that such a system can sound better: more like real music and less like an electronic reproduction of same. This is what the PS Audio Power Plant Premier delivers. I wouldn't want to be without it."

This has ten outlets and cooks up 1,500 watts. I bought it new from authorized dealer, took it out of the box, and never removed it from the stand until I took the photos. Maybe a year and a half of use on it. There's an inch-and-a-half hairline crack on top of the case in back (you can see it in the photo from the back). Haven't a clue how it got there, but the piece is otherwise minty. Have original double box and all accessories, including remote.

PS Audio got very greedy, very quickly. The current model with ten outlets will set you back $4,995; the eight-outlet jobbie, $3,495.
