I agree with the listen first, buy later advice. I don't always follow it...but in the end I pay.
I have tried a number of phones that others love (ortho as well) and I end up selling them. As far
as ortho's, my Audeze LCD-2 is close to the sound I prefer, but at the end of the day, my favorite
phones at each price point are all dynamic and not planar.
To each his/her own.
