Hi James and fellow Bryston fans,

After following (and commenting) on the BDP-1 from when it was just an idea, I have finally place an order for one.

The key decision changer was the addition of NAS connectivity.  I have a 4Bsst2, BP26, and BDA-1 already, but was loath to give up the convenience and familiarity of my Slim Devices Transporter and Logitech Media Server (I think that is still the name this week, they keep changing it).  I run a Vortex box as my music server, and the Transporter as my digital source.  As they are widely separated, I need a player than can access digital files across the network.

Dealer - AFA Electronics Singapore
Product: BDP-1 with blue LED

Can you load the beta software even if it is not shipping yet?

Thanks.

Thanks.  As the dealer did not have a blue LED unit in stock, this is a new factory order, so I guess it will ship with the NAS-enabled software.  Can't wait.

Hi Chris/James!

I ordered mine almost 2 months ago but there is still no sign of it.
Dealer: Unisons
Unit: Black 17" blue led

Is there such huge demand that you cannot keep up production?

At least the good thing is that the NAS feature will be preloaded once it arrives finally. :D

Keep up the good work!

Hi Toms

We have been backordered on the BDP-1 since we introduced it but about 3 weeks is normal. Where are you located?

Any news from the export manager?

Sorry for bothering you with this, but it has been more than 2 months and I can't sleep at night without at least an estimated date of delivery :)

Thanks
Toms

Hi Toms,

OK it is scheduled to go out next week.  The holdup has been the distributor wants it shipped with a number of other products all at once.

Congrats, Toms!  Please let us know what you think once you get the BDP implemented into your system.  Also, we love pics!

As the OP, this thread has been hijacked somewhat.  James, any ship date on my BDP-1?  Thanks.

I am of the same mind as you... and was an early critic of lack of NAS support even when the BDP was still in the design phase.

Having just upgraded my tonearm.... getting another purchase past "her indoors" will be difficult at this stage... so while I wait for the dust to settle... please keep this thread updated with your comparison of the Transporter with the BDP.

Given I use a  Transporter for my digital playback, I would be very interested in your opinions.

Thanks,

Peter

Peter,

Before the BDP-1, I used a Modwright modified Transporter and thought it was excellent.  If you do a search, you can read how myself and others thought it compared to the BDP-1 in my system.

Given that I thought the Modwright version was a very big jump from the stock version, I think you will be in for quite a treat if you decide to go with the BDP-1 at some point.

Happy to share my impressions when/if my BDP-1 arrives.  I have no indication if the order has made it to the factory or what the ship date will be.

I have the BDA-1 and BP-26 set up so that I can do A/B comparisons when the time comes.
