This may be a very dumb question, but I have to ask....

I generally always keep the boxes to my expensive toys..my Bryston kit is no exception. This policy has been great, since I just moved from Minneapolis to WashDC and was able to pack up the gear with no worries.

Unfortunately, we have very little  storage in the condo we just moved in to..my wife is begging me to get rid of all of these boxes (amp, pre-amp, DAC, two REL subs, studio monitors, computer, etc....).

If I ever need to ship my gear again, will Bryston sell me packing and shipping boxes?

Yes, Bryston will sell new boxes for your toys. I hear in some occasion that sometimes original boxes are too bad...then Bryston got shipped it back in "new" box when it was in service. That is a nice detail from Bryston  :thumb:

No such thing as a silly question, I already asked them all!!!

Shipping charges will often be based on the size of the box as well as weight, so you may be surprised how much it costs to ship a lightweight empty box.

You may want to consider carefully breaking your boxes down flat, and along with the packing inserts, they may be able to be stored in 1/3 the space or less.  It will obviously take more labor to reconstruct them if and when needed, but it may be a compromise your wife is willing to live with.

I have usually kept my high end component boxes but recently cut down on the number.  The storage issue is more related to the form fitting foam rather than the cardboard box itself.  If storage is a real issue, then I would discard the Bryston boxes.  Repairs are rare and a new component specific shipping box is IIRC about $75.00.

Not al all a bad question.

I keep all my high end gear boxes forever, and I have regretted dumping boxes of lower cost items before the end of warranties.

I especially keep Bryston boxes, a number of which I have had to use.

But I'm fortunate in having enough storage space. I can appreciate how people with limited space face a dilemma. the suggestions made here make a lot lf sense.

The original box fetches more when sold. Storage fees or new boxes is an economical decision for you. If it were me keep the boxes.

That's such an obvious idea it makes me smack my head and go "DUH" because I never thought of that. I've got WAY too many boxes taking up space in closets and the attic. Now, if I could just figure out some way to deal with the big wood coffin case that my latest speakers came packed in! They're taking up too much room in the garage.

use the big wood coffin case to store the folded boxes and more...

I wish there were more useful room inside. The interior of the Tidal's box is occupied mostly by high density foam. There's only 14" of vertical space inside. Still, maybe tonearm, headphone, phono stage boxes, etc. could go in there.
