Jon Lord organist in Deep Purple since 1968 passed away at 71 years old.

Sorry to hear about this sad news.  Deep Purple and Whitesnake are two of my favorites.  God bless you Jon,  Thanks for creating timeless songs that we will always love and remember!

Very sad news. 

DP has alwasy been one of my favorite bands, going back to when I got my first stereo as a teen (Pioneer SX-45 receiver, ElectroVoice speakers, BIC turn table and take deck).   Their music just never gets old, and they also don't get over played on the radio (which ruins music for me).

I had no idea he was in Whitesnake.

Jon Lord B3 sound is different from others rock bands, due the fact he used guitar amps to amplify the organ, in the past he used Fender guitar amps(more than one) and in this video above he is using a Marshall.

Just read that in September 2012 one of his works is to be released.  Will be watching for it.

RIP Jon Lord.  You will be missed by many who love your music.

Incredible sound he had, a true, true originator. His B3 sound is what countless players and musical software engineers and sound engineers for that matter have always tried to emulate. Beside his sound he could flat out play too....I hope he is in a better place.
