SOLD Odyssey Audio Stratos Extreme GC Mono's
« on: 20 Jun 2012, 12:34 am »
Up For Sale: One pair of all black Odyssey Audio Stratos Extreme Glass Ceiling Mono blocks. What can I say that has not already been said about how they sound? They are absolutely wonderful amplifiers. They started out life in May of 2006 as Mono Extreme’s with red boards, and a few years later were upgraded to GC with the black boards. They were recently re-biased, and the DC offset was adjusted as needed by our own Mike Galusha. Reason for selling? Just scaling back and simplifying now that kids are out and about on their own. Include an upcoming move to what will most certainly be smaller accommodations, and there is your motivation for selling.

My asking price is $1850.00 Includes original boxes, manual, power cords, everything that they came with. Buyer pays actual shipping, and these will be about 70 lbs. apiece. My preference is USPS postal money order, but will accept a personal or business check, and ship when cleared. If PP is preferred, buyer is responsible for all fees.

Now for the good stuff, what these puppies are packin’ inside. The specs here are for the Mono Extreme from the website. Klaus told me they are the same, just a little extra magic added.

The Good Stuff:
•  1 x 200+ Watts RMS @ 8 Ohms (each)
•  High Class A /AB
•  2 Ohm load stable
•  1 - 600,000 Hz frequency range
•  120,000µF memory (each)
•  Additional 60,000µF memory bank for 180,000µF total (each)
•  >120 amps current delivery
<0.04% THD (not audible)
•  >800 continuous damping factor
•  Input impedance 22K ohms
•  DC offset <1 mV
•  RCA & XLR (bridged) inputs
•  400 VA Plitron transformer (each)
•  Additional 400 VA Plitron transformer for 800VA total (each)
•  Sanken Epitaxial Planar Transistors 2SA1216 & 2SC2922
•  Anti vibration dual thickness PCB
•  Power consumption when idle ±30Watts
•  4 internal fuses 250V/6.3A, 5x20mm, fast blow
•  Additional electrical protection fuse
•  Higher performance parts: Nichicon Muse capacitors, Vishay/Dale resistors, extra WIMA metal film capacitors
•  Power consumption when idle ±35Watts
•  >66 lbs / 30 kg weight
•  Dimensions: 19 width x 18 deep x 7 height (in) /
48.3 width x 45.7 deep x 17.8 height (cm)

More pics upon request. 7/10 cosmetic rating to be conservative.
Thanks for taking a look,
JCarney

Hmmmm, must still be a little high. Will $2099.00 garner a little interest? Reminder, these are the big dogs of the Stratos line.

Thanks,

Ok, how about a bit more incentive. $1999.00, and I will split shippin within CONUS with the lucky new owner. Now that is a sweet deal.

Thanks,
JCarney

Still no luck.  Maybe it hasn't digested the change yet.

Photos and serial numbers, please?  I'd like to contact Klaus and compare the three pair for sale on AC.

Thanks!

Ok, one last try. $1850 for the pair, and I will still split shipping within CONUS. All other fees are buyers responsibility.

Thanks,

Our friend Gary Dodd needs our help again, and I am willing to help. Purchase my Glass Ceiling mono's, and I will send Gary a check for $200. I will still split shipping within CONUS, buyer responsible for all other fees associated with the sale.

Thanks,
JCarney

Nice amps, wish I could here them. I have been looking for a pair of oddyssey amps for some time, just out of my price range.

No, sorry. I've had them open too. Never even crossed my mind to take a pic. These do have the black boards if you were wondering.
