used gear pricing
« on: 16 Jun 2012, 07:52 pm »
Long story short, my wife is down in central Florida helping her parents downsize from a two bedroom house to an assisted living condo. She went to clear out their storge closet and found some stereo stuff. She has a good eye and figured that the gear looked good enough to call me before they gave it away or whatever. Anyway a pair of Altec Lansing model 15 studio monitors and a Sansui QRX7500. I am going to put it on Craigslist Orlando for them, but I was curious what to ask. While it all worked great when last used, and my wife said all the wood looks mint, its been sitting in a closet for twenty plus years. I was thinking $100. for the Sansui and 400 or 500 for the speakers. Any opinions please.

Thanks.

I found a CL ad in Canada that was selling the speaker for $490. So you're in the ballpark.
Good luck though. Sounds like neat stuff.

High, $75 and $425, or $500 packaged, would get that system sold fast and without hassle. Don't try for too much and invite all the hassle, go a little low and just move it. Someone will be glad to pay five bills for it in Florida.

Thanks guys, I agree with shooting low. Not only to move it fast but because its been sitting for so long. I'm kicking myself for flying her out there, because if she drove, that stuff would be coming back with her.

I know I know, I keep telling myself I'm doing a good thing because they were going to just junk the stuff, and they can use the money. But part of me keeps mentally reorganizing my bedroom for those speakers and receiver.

Write 'em a check, and have an AC member in FL (ahem!) store them for you.  You'll eventually pick them up.   :thumb:

If you don't want to go through the hassle of selling them but want them to go to a good home may I suggest pick me. I live about 2 hrs north of Orlando so pick up would be no problems. If times were different I would offer to buy them.
