Multi-use? Doesn't that mean she gets to multi-use it and maybe, just maybe you'll get some use out of it. Don't do it. My room is anything but a perfect space, but it's my space, with my things and decor. And she stays the hell out of because I've found the perfect spouse repellent. Cigars! You'll understand when you get older and been married for 30 plus years. Actually it's probably why we've been married so long. You need to be able to get away from each other on occasion

All things being equal, the bigger room will usually be better.
But when you have to share the space, the equality goes out the window.
IMO - Unless your wife will be willing to compromise, and from her perspective they will be LARGE compromises, I'd stay in the small room. A small room done right has always sounded better than a large room done half assed, IOW "Shared" or multi use.

i must respectfully agree to disagree.  when i had a 26x38x8.5 room, as long as i could place the speakers anywhere i wish, the sound in the room, imo, would be better than any small room regardless of how it could be set up.

Tim I have a small room that is all mine. Whether the sound is better or not I'll keep ''MY''
room. I have no desire to share it with anyone else in the house. I don't have to place this
here or that there because it might look better. My wife has no problem leaving the room alone.

I could go to a bigger space but as others said it wouldn't be mine.Actually had a bed in "spare"bedroom for awhile.got to point when I got motivated and took it out , sound improved big time hard to believe I left it in there for so long.
But your room looks darn good for a so called small space. I like the small room just because it helps me focus more on the music.

Thought I should update this thread as I have finally come to a conclusion or two.
First, it's a whole lot easier to get decent sound in a large room than in a small room. All I did was hook up the integrated amp, provide a source and set the speakers in place. Now I still haven't sat down to do critical listening but it sounds but it's very promising even with no treatments.
Conclusion two is I will definitely keep the small dedicated room for critical listening. It is all mine with no distractions so why not?
