The room is about 13ft wide where the speakers are located, and about 15ft at the opposite end. The Prodigies are 6ft from the front wall and 16 inches from the side walls and 8ft apart. My listening position is 10ft from the speakers and about another 11ft from the listening position to the back wall. I am currently happy with the sound I'm getting but may move around the subs. The big black boxes behind the prodigies are two stacked Mirage bpss 210 subwoofers, I have two per channel, each one has two 10" woofers servo controlled set at 50hz.

Hi Bud,
Bryston Electronics w/ Martin Logan loudspeakers in something special. I too have a Bryston/Martin Logan setup and couldn't be happier.... and such an easy speaker to set up.  :thumb:

Cool, but I always read that planars and electrostats are tricky to set up.

You must be having a blast with the 28's......judging from the performance I'm now getting from the 7B sst2.

So why are the 28s nicer than the good old 7Bs?

I own neither, but from reading a good deal about them, the conclusion I have drawn is that even if the higher wattage of the 28BSST2 compared to the 7BSST2 is not needed for a particular speaker/room/dB level, the 28BSST2 has a sonic advantage due to:

1.  approximately twice the watts in Class A mode before going to Class A/B

2.  a larger power transformer (and power supply capacitance?)

Whether this is worth $9000 more ($19,200 versus $10,200) can only be answered by those that can afford it.  My personal budget is $2K, so I won't likely even be seeing a 4BSST2 for some years to come until a used one is down to that price!

Thanks for that insight. It makes sense if we are splitting hairs and it is worth the price for this kind of haircut  For me the 4b is a great value. :thumb:

Okay ,there it is..more time in class A due to greater power ect ect. I'm sure this  only matters as to what volume you require in a given set up. ( room size, speakers  and so on). If one doesn't require great spls then what is the extra cost for if the smaller amps go do the trick?

Good question. The 4BSST goes as loud as I can stand it without clipping.

Hi Bud1451,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune? in life to have to sell your entire system especially after owning the 28's for just a few weeks.
Hopefully the future is more fair to you if you decide to get back into high-end audio.

best regards,

Mark

Whats the trick? If you are into the sweet spot the bigger amps are better with Bryston. If you want to have parties and casually walk around in front your system then the 4B is more then enough. Both are legitament reasons for owing nice systems but more power in the sweet spot listening is always beneficial.

I don't see Bud1451 making a post, indicating that he's selling off everything - mkaiser, how did you become aware of this?  Bud1451 - if this is the case, I feel for you and your situation and hope for all the best.  Cheers.
