Not suprising in the least. The Chinese are buying up the world.

*sniff* The chain (AMC) that bought the chain (Loews) that bought the chain (Cineplex Odeon) that bought the one (Plitt) I worked for back in the 80s gets bought by an overseas investor...

It's just not fair.

Ha. Remember during the 80s it was all about the Japanese buying everything and every movie had a joke about it.

Not sure I would buy a cinema chain.  They seem to be closing a lot faster than new ones are opening.     Families with audio systems and home theater setups seem to keep customers at home rather than spending $100 for four to see a movie and share a popcorn.

Are you kidding???  Look for a new wave of Kung-Fu movies coming to a theater (chain) near you!

Or were KF movies Japanese?

why is it that the government will stop one us company from buying another us company but let other countries take control of us companies?

You're right, with Avengers alone topping 200 million in a weekend, this is a horrible idea.

I do think it's funny that a company from a communist country with repressive censorship now runs our throttle wide open movie theaters.

Everybody talks about who's buying. Nobody talks about who's selling. The current ownership group includes some interesting names. Go click Wolfy's link again...
