Subaru 1985 'L' (for Leone) series Wagon.  426 000 KMs .  4 pot petrol.
Was used as an Aussie 'Outback' (Desert) Tourer by relative for years.  Still very reliable.  Was told "it's good for 500 000 KMs "  by 2 mechanics before I took it on.  Have had offers on it and the body is only average.

Original owner of a '93 Volvo 850 GLT manual with 202,000 miles. It's been incredibly relaible and fun to drive also averaging about 29 mpg. It's a 5 cylinder compromising between a 4 and 6 cylinder giving good gas mileage yet good throttle response. The configuration is a little harder to execute but more auto companies should consider it, but sadly 5 cylinders are a dying design.

Besides regular maintenance, everything is original and still working, the only thing I replaced was the battery, tires, O2 sensor, brakes, radiator, and fuel pump.

I did fail the smog test last December and knew it was about time to get a new car. So I got a '12 Lexus CT200h which is a hybrid, got it because of a employer incentive to encourage the employees to be green. It's a great car to drive, very sporty and averaging 48 mpg.

I did get the Volvo to pass the smog and decided to keep driving it for a while, hopefully the Lexus will give me the same 20 years of relaibility.

I sold my 1996 Ford Windstar with 172000 miles (ok we're in Canada, so it's 275000 kms) to my brother in law 2 years ago because we ran out of place to park it during a snowy winter. It had some quirks while it was under warranty and I was still bringing to the dealer for service. After warranty period, I started bringing to an independent shop for service, and as it got older, I did most of the maintenance work myself. It became more and more trouble free as it got older, still driving quiet and smooth to the day it got sold.

We are still driving our '99 Rav 4 as our daily driver, with 257000 kms. Another reliable vehicle, although not  as trouble free as the Ford. This is my wife's baby, and she said we will never sell it. I started using synthetic oil on it two years ago and it performed so much better... I think this car will be with us for many more years.

Does a green 1991 Bridgestone MB-5 count? I ride it on the weekends, mostly on road these days.

It has thumb shifters which are a work of art. Functional, simple, elegant. I wish Shimano would bring them back.

My wife's 2000 Beetle diesel has 319,000 miles on it and is a daily driver.  She still manages 46 mpg on the highway.  My 2003 Jetta diesel is only at 234,000 miles but I do get 52 mpg on my work commute.  The Beetle has been bulletproof, but the Jetta has needed some "attention" along the way.  Will be disappointed when we have to trade since the new clean diesels don't get as good gas mileage as our old ones.

Fun thread! Thanks for starting it Nature Boy.

I drive a 2003 Subaru Forrester, with 210,000 miles. I have done basic maintenance and had head gaskets replaced a couple months back. My mechanic says I can get 300,000+ if I want to replace oem parts as they wear out and break down.

I've learned from experience that these are sturdy, safe cars. A year ago someone t-boned me, causing extensive body damage. At that time I thought insurance co. was going to total it, but there was no damage to the frame. The guy who hit me couldn't say the same as the collision cracked the frame underneath the engine and pushed the block into the front seat. Fortunately for him he wasn't seriously hurt, though I suffered a concussion and three cracked molars.

As my son approaches driving age I plan to give him this and purchase another.

BTW, how many of us with old cars have tube equipment?  :D

Probably doesn't quite count yet, but 2010 Golf TDI has 70k on it in just 3 years.
Overall averaging 42mpg, but 45+ on the highway, and over 50 on a couple of trips.

Love the torque too.

Beat-to-hell '96 Buick Roadmaster wagon, wood grain and all.  Getting close to 170K.  It's my "beater" truck, great for hauling drywall, tools, you name it.  Paint falling off, wheel wells rusting out, and lousy WAF.  Great OEM audio system, takes corners flat, used it to pull a garage wall up plumb again, fast as hell when I want it to be but mileage sucks.  Other than that very cheap to own.  Aside from replacing the A/C two years ago, no significant repairs in the 7 years I've owned it.  Certainly haven't wasted any money on car washes............... :D

Dang!  One million??????  You'd have to put 210 miles a day for the past 13 years to get those #'s...... Charles, you better skip the home audio and concentrate on car stereo!

The fellow that drives the 3,000,000 mile Volvo (yes, that's Million) came into the (Volvo) dealership I work at the other day.
Neat fellow. I tried my best not to ask him a bunch of repetitive sounding stupid questions he's heard a thousand times.
Overall the '66 is in amazing shape.

He's 3,000 miles away from hitting the three millionth mile, and has a 1200(ish) mile trip back home to Long Island New York.
He said Volvo want's him to hit the three Millionth mile in (of all places) Alaska, since there are only two states the car hasn't driven in, Hawaii, and Alaska.
I guess Volvo was too cheap to ship the car to Hawaii, so they're going to box it up and ship it to Alaska instead.

As far as my personal vehicles are concerned, my '02 YukonXL has 180,000 on the clock.
Other than maintenance items, I've only ever spent more than $200 on repairs one time (A/C compressor).

I just bought my son his first car, a 2004 Saab 9.3, five speed manual transmission.
The first owner bought it at the dealer I work at brand new, and has performed every maintenance service and repair I recommended to him over the years.
You could say this car has been "in my family" since it was "born", so to speak. He sold it to me at the ridiculous price of $500, since he's been a buddy and customer for the past dozen years or so.
The only thing wrong with it, is the tach doesn't work sometimes.
That's a pretty neat car for a soon-to-be "permit driver" to have. To say the kid is giddy would be a huge understatement.

I told my wife that when she put a quarter of a million miles on her 2000 Honda CRV, I'd buy her something new. A coupe of years back we traded it in at 249,890 and it ran great... yeah I know, I'm just a nice guy and cut her some slack.

I still have a 93 Dodge 250 with a Cummins engine. It is actually quite low mileage for its age at 247 000.  I know of 2 that are about that vintage with over 1 000 000.  However, misc repair on it isn't cheap.
