Rockbox firmware change for Sansa MP3 players
« on: 19 May 2012, 08:25 pm »
Hello, Has anyone out there used this Rockbox firmware change on a portable MP3 player? I have a Sansa E280 (not fuse model) that I use for listening while I work out. I have a set of Sony MDR 700 headphones that sound pretty good with the Sansa MP3 player. I was wondering if the change to the firmware would make a significant change in the sound?

From what i remember, you can change what the player can play by putting new firmware on it. I.e. an iPod could play flac files.

I have Rockbox installed on my Sansa Fuze v2. The original firmware, though, already plays FLAC, which I believe is true of all current SanDisk players. I haven't noticed any real difference in sound quality one way or the other. For what I use my players for (mainly in the gym) I play Mp3 files encoded with LAME at -V2.
