Handy OUTDOOR speaker cover
« on: 30 Apr 2012, 12:52 pm »

Been doing a lot of work on my patio, including trying to find decent outdoor speakers. Couldn't find anything that fit my needs so I moved my old Audio Engine's out there on some stands.  Boy do those things still sound great!!

Searched online for speaker covers but couldn't find any, but did stumble on these:

http://www.the-cover-store.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=CSP35770HA1

They were 8 bux a piece and are really heavy duty - kind of rubbery-feeling bags/covers. They fit perfectly.   Now I can stop taking the speakers in and leave them there for the season.

They hang well down past the bottom of the stand and are waterproof.

I know, I know, it's probably not a great idea to leave these outside all summer, so don't bother responding with that.  I'll post again in the fall and report on the condition of the speakers.

Here's a look -   Have a great summer!

Kirch, Good idea and I bet they sound damn good outside.

Not sure how much wind you get out there but you may want to put some bungee cords around the bottom of the cover tight to the stand to keep them from blowing up and or off.

I have to do that to my kettle grill cover.

BTW - A year and a half later on these covers and they still work great.  A little faded 'cause they're out in full sun in the summer, but my cheap experiment worked.  The speakers have been outside with the exception of the coldest of last winter.  Working great.
