Pics to come.

Hi Roscoeiii,
This is a cool saga, like watching someones lifetime table history in fast forward. You've got everyone sitting on their hands with bated breath, waiting for pics.  Thanks for the thread, very enjoyable.

Thanks and glad you are enjoying the saga.

Though at this point, it is pretty safe to say that my table/arm saga is at an end. Hope to grab a mono cart at some point, and need to get the clamp for the Rock. But then it is just sit back and enjoy the analog set-up.

I just read through this entire thread, because I too have an Amadeus and I am interested in getting a rock 7. While considering which tonearm I might put on the Rock 7, I thought hey what about the well tempered LTD tonearm, and have a little bit of both! You'd have silicone damping at both the arm bearing and the headshell. http://welltemperedlab.wordpress.com/

Has anyone tried this?

I asked into this when I got my Rock, and was told that you would run a real risk of overdamping. Seems there is such thing as too much silicon. I will be at AXPONA this weekend and will try to ask Townshend and Well Tempered folks who are there.

I thought of that too, but thought you could just lower the bearing cup to keep the arm damping to a minimum and avoid over damping of the system. This is how I have my amadeus setup anyway.

Overdamping is one issue, but not the only one.  When I got my Rock 3 I was told it was not advisable to use a unipivot arm.  It is just too unstable at the pivot point.  As the paddle on the cartridge end plows thru the silicon there is some resistance such that it can throw a unipivot into a constant state of rocking and rotating in the horizontal plane.  If you can visualize it, this will cause the azimuth to be swinging all over the place as the record plays.

Hello to everyone here on AC

might be selling my Townshend Rock 7  with Helius Omega  10" Arm     (bought in 2015  from Authorized Dealer)   located in Illinois   have box for TT and Tonearm    8/10 condition just a few tiny nicks

due to personal reason (divorce)   really not enjoying music lately!   Retail  is about  $7K   but would be open to realistic offers..

its a great TT  as many know. once you have own a TT  like this, no need to upgrade or  look any further!

these rarely show up  for sale. because of good reason.   will easily compete with $10K  TT's

PM  for details
