New face for my diy integrated amp!
« on: 15 Apr 2012, 05:29 am »
I just got a new face for my diy integrated amp! I use 3M metal sandpaper and it works really well on aluminum. all work was done by hands.

This is the led's circuitry that I used for those green leds. it is connected just after the power switch.

Why the new LED's - what are they indicative of.  I believe your former (and this one) have a blue LED just above the power switch - is that now deactivated on this latest version?  Are the green LED's left and right power/clipping indicators?

The green led's are for just power indicators. I had to removed the old led because I am using a push-in power switch that is "medical" grade and it is big and I did not have space for led on top of it so that one is out. That is the problem by using small chassis...not space for nothing :duh:. The chassis is 12D  X 8W X 2 1/2H. I always wanted to build a good, small and powerful integrated amp. even for my power supply I wanted to use at least 60.000uf but I did not have the space so I end up using just 27.200uf. I do not think it looks so ugly, I know it can look better but..hey it is a diy amp after all right. To be softer on my self... let's say it is a unique piece lol.

Some take form before function - I'm sure your primary interest was function.  Perhaps as a future upgrade project you could work toward moving the guts into a larger box that accomodates additional capacitance etc.

Cheers.

yeah, if I use a bigger chassis I would have enough space to use bigger power supply, that will be my next project.

Why is this post in the Bryston forum?

First, I do not think James would mind. since this forum is not just for Bryston gears..."just read the other posts" and you will see what I am talking about.

Second, I am not here to sell or to take some business away from Bryston company. :nono:

Third,  I do not think I did something wrong here...if James tanner does not tell me not to post nothing else than Bryston, Why do you care? if you do not like this post...do not read it :duh:
