Here is an old system I had using Hornshoppe Wannabee clones, sunfire sub, Cayin EL34 pp amp that was transsexual in that it could also be a low powered SET using one output tube per channel. Also had a Sun 300 B that was highly modded in the system for a while.

They took the place of the Newform 645s if you can believe it.

Also put into use a Yamaha 03D digital mixer to e.q. the Wannabees.

Had nice sound also with the CR Developments Kalypso EL 84 PP

great inspiring thread ,love everyone's toys , i use 3 systems , 2 in my weekend home/lab ,1 in my city apt
some pics lots of diy

variety of CD players into a transformer tvc with nickel winding,driving 2 active crossovers(1 tube) and 1 plate amp, output of tube crossover top drives a modified drd 300b, driving altec 288g with 1005 tar filled horns,and a 6as4 driving altec 808 in kevin brooks baby grand passively crossed over at 12k with oil cap
low part of crossover going into modified dynaco mk3 driving altec 515b (8 ohm hi power vc) in split a 4 cabinet flares around 20 cb/ft
second part of bass management
ss electronic crossover in kinergetics 75 watt class a amp crossed at 90hz 18db driving 4 jbl 2235 in corner loaded folded horn fs at 28 hz at 110 db and then plate amp bash 300 to martin audio isobaric sub f3 of 18 hz crossed at 40 hz
all cables are silver coated ofc made by myself occasionally use a old battery dac
pretty flat from 22 to 18k at 110db, all time aligned ,ps audio 600 juicing the system (380 watts draw)
other systems are fr vintage drivers and Th horns also active crossover and will post pics soon

VERY cool, merdy! I love the speaker rig. Have you experimented with many of the Altec large format horns, or "just" the 1005s?

thanks Redboy, yes i have many many horns,1803,1505,803,203b,mantaray ,511 etc, the best ones that worked in my room size was the 1005 and 203b ,the big boys while amazing i would get some wall reflection so i would plug some socks in the outside cells

Ever experiment with the 32A? I seem to have acquired a pair of 'em, am considering chasing down some appropriate drivers and pairing them with some 414s. My goals aren't quite as ambitious as yours apparently, but the 1505s do have a certain inexplicable allure to me...

Same amp and DAC and speaker drivers (Lowther PM5A and Eminence Beta 15), but new bass amp (Crown XLS1500), Placette Audio passive RVC and Nelson Pass speaker design. Best sound yet.

Could you offer more details about the slot loaded OB? It really looks like something I would like to try.
