Totally agree, that is one of the reasons the rythmiks look so nice is the amp they use allows you to tweak the begeezus out of them to match your room.  I will check out Chase but I hven't heard an 18 that has really sounded anything other than live concert musical.  In my room I would assume most 18s would overpower it and I would have to run them so low they would be floppy and underpowered.  It looks like 12s are the sweet spot for low extension and low SPL.  These are mainly for music anyway so 30hz should about as low at they will operate, it seems like an 18 would have a lot of unused surface area for making those huge LF waves.  Thanks all for your advice, now its just time to save the pennies and continue to research.

Regarding setup, I have a RatShack SPL meter.  What software or other things are necessary to take proper room measurements to figure out room modes and what not?
