Why are you not using it?  Just curious. It looks great.
Since I can't use one, I flip the strobe disc over and use that to keep the platter clean, seems to be a general consensus.

I don't want to get you more worked up but I emailed Charisma Audio, the Canadian distributor for WT (their name is on the dust cover box), and they just responded saying it came direct from WT.

"Well Tempered Lab does supply acrylic dust cover for the Amadeus and Amadeus GTA."

I'm not worked up at all.   :D  They're just having it outsourced.  WT USA can do the same.
So it's still after market, if you will.
So why aren't you using yours?

Well geez, the tables themselves are outsourced too, no?

I don't care for the look.  I'd rather deal with the dust.

Umm, why does it matter if it is an official dust cover or not?

In the words of Donald "Duck" Dunn: "If the shit fits wear it."

Lol.  Yes!
I guess a better term for any acrylic dustcover is aftermarket.
I also use a 1" wide paintbrush to dust with.  I've heard bad reports about those snagging swifters. Good for cartridge dealers, though!

Do you notice much difference between the Amadeus and your new GTA?

Your continued use of official had two of my friends reading this forum ask if there was now such a thing.
You know, the rumor mill.

OK, I am sorry but I am going to believe the distributor on this one and not some guy trolling the forums.  you are correct that it is not made at the WT factory by bill, since there is no factory.  however, WT is printing a dust cover box and providing the dust cover packaging.  maybe it's a canadian thing, like how some cars in the US don't have heated seats but in canada they come standard.

I've only listened to one side of an album on the GTA and I don't hear any difference.

The packaging is that same distinctive pink foam for sure. That superb packaging is another great thing about that table. I'd feel much more comfortable buying a used WTA with original packaging than I would most other TTs.

Yes, the pink epi foam is great stuff.  It's been in use a long while.  Pink Triangle used it years ago, and so did VPI.
And nice to see Canadian aftermarket dustcovers do as well.

Vortrex, you probably wouldn't hear a difference between them if not side by side.
The GTA does have more bass impact or slam.

Someone get bill on the phone!  I don't believe the distributor is forging these and printing his own WT labeled boxes.  My guess is this came from china and opera is behind it.

I was just thinking that after listening to another album, seemed to have more impact.  I like the heft of the GTA and the aluminum finish.

Aftermarket is not forging. OY! I give up on this one Lol

Glad you like your GTA.  Hopefully one thing we can agree on is what a great table it is.
And glad you're hearing more impact.  You should.

Aftermarket doesn't come in WT box.

This GTA was sealed, never opened.  As you may recall I sold my last nearly new Amadeus because the motor was so loud.  Well, I fired the GTA up and the motor was even louder than the one I sold!!!  I couldn't believe it.  Ready to throw it out the window, I tapped on the top of the pulley a handful of times with it running and it went silent.  What's up with the motors they're using?

OK, this should settle it.  The distributor says..

"The cover came from WT/Opera in China.  Canadian retail is $265."

I'm glad.

If I may raise one more point, since you have the box open, does that Opera version fit directly on top of the table, or does it surround it and rest on the shelf?  All the aftermarkets are generally sized to surround and drop down on whatever the table is sitting on.  Makes them a larger yet maybe safer to lift on and off?

Not sure about your motor issue.  I've never had a problem.  Yet.

Thank you.   Good to know.
I'm afraid I'd bang the lid against the arm/cartridge.
If I could have one it'd have to be a total surround type.

I had a plinth top cover made for my VPI classic and it was a pain getting on and off.  I think the table top type would be best.
