I'm strongly considering getting one as I don't currently have a tablet device, but the iPad 2 will be sold for $299 I'm hearing so I'm not sure which direction I'll go just yet. My gf never used her camera and only rarely watched videos on the device and, myself, I don't know how much the new screen and camera is worth the $200 price difference. Hmm...

4s's camera produces much better picture quality than my brand new Samsung Nexus' camera, which admittedly is not one of Samsung's best camera effrots.  4s has better color richness and vividness.

I tried to preorder shortly after the announcement, but the store was down at the time. Tried again a bit later and the store kept timing out. Might try again tonight.

I think it's amazing that they've managed to deliver a 2048x1536 IPS display for $499. That would be a decent deal just as a second monitor for quality visual work even if there was no bundled computer (compare it for example to Wacom's screen-tablet for artists). And then to include 28 nanometer silicon for the both CPU and GPU in order to get 10 hours of battery life... it's a pretty impressive value.

I think it's called "The new iPad, formerly known as iPad2".    

J/K.  You are right.  I guess they didn't want to call it iPad2s.

No, I don't plan on buying an IPad 3 as I just bought the IPad 2 at Christmas for my wife.

The great news is that I bought a crapload of Apple stock at $315 per share not too long ago.  It is now at $530 per share with apple starting to sell their phones in China and the new Ipad 3 coming out. 

Sorry....back to our regularly scheduled thread...

quality of which aspect...the image quality? it is very good, for a phone. Though there is no optical zoom (only digital), no exposure controls. so as a camera it is limited to me. for snapshots it is very adequate.

I have not ordered one but I will definitely buy one as soon as Best Buy has them in stock.  I have to use up some gift cards and I don't need any more Crayola crayons. 

OK, slightly obscure joke.  Last few times I was in Best Buy I could not find the connectors, wires, or CDs I wanted.  But I did spy an entire row of crayons, Post-It notes, pens, etc.  So far they have not added a produce section.

I bought the iPad 1 when the iPad 2 came out.  We use the iPad rarely, especially since we both got smartphones (her, an iPhone, me a droid).  The ONLY time I take out the iPad is when my phone is low on battery, especially since my phone will actually display Adobe Flash and the iPad won't. 

So, it depends on what you want (or think you want) to do with the iPad.  Personally, we don't play games, don't use it for watching movies or anything else for that matter (why -- we have three computers, two of which are hooked up to TVs/projectors, and one is a projector with 7.1 channels).  Other than surfing the Internet every once in a while, I'm still trying to find a use for the iPad.  I do have SqueezePad on it to control the Squeeze Boxes, but I have a free app to do the same thing on my Android.  So, I just use the Android phone.
