Have had the Sony mega changers over the years, 100/200/300. Interestingly all were roughly the same price new (~$400) , a few years apart as they improved the line. Never really had any problems with the line. They are a little noisy mechanism-wise, and at least as of the last one purchased which was probably close to 10 years ago now, only have optical for digital output. It's still going strong in my office system with no complaints. If sound quality is a major consideration they definitely benefit from the use of an external DAC. It takes their output to a whole nuther level.
Purchased a Denon 5 disc changer a few years back for the main listening set-up based on past experience with the brand. It was passable, though not up to their usual quality imo. Noisy, had to open the unit a couple of times to remove discs stuck on the pick-up spindle.
Purchased a new Yamaha unit a little over a month ago off of Amazon. Approx $350 (incl tax), 5 disc changer, has the latest Burr-Brown 192/24 chipped DAC. Lots of extra features. So far am well satisfied, quiet operation, good sound, though am still running it out thru optical to my AVA DAC.
