(Free) REL S/3 (Pair) that Need Some Help
« Reply #742 on: 6 Aug 2025, 04:20 pm »
GONE...

I have two (2) REL S/3 subwoofers for someone with desire and acumen. I bought them new from Music for Pleasure in July 2015 for $1700 apiece, along with the upgraded Bassline cables for an additional $425 a pair.

One of the subs quit working recently, and I upgraded to a pair of S/510s. I checked the fuse...it's okay. Music for Pleasure can coordinate repair from REL estimated around $600 - $700. The other seems to have weakened output.

So...if you have a mind to do the sleuthing and/or repair, they are free if you don't need the upgraded cables. Includes manual, original boxes, power cords. Piano black. Cabinets are in great shape except for a small tear in the corner of one grill cover.

If you'd also like the upgraded Bassline cables, I'd like $125.

Happy to provide more info.

Pickup in St Louis area only.

Thanks!

I have an excess AudioLab 6000CDt with low usage.  It comes with its remote, box, and manual.  Also included is a new 75 Ohm Monster coax cable.  The list price for this transport has gone up to $799.  I am asking $300.

Pioneer DV-45A SACD, CD, DVD player.  It reads discs with no problems and all the controls seem to work properly.  NO REMOTE.  $10

I have a relatively small stash of good tubes, many of which are essentially new, all of which at some point were tested for shorts and output. All of these should be usable.

Among the highlights are a virtually new matched quad of Sovtek 12AX7 LPS, as well as two matched pairs of the same tubes.  A matched quad of NOS JAN Philips 6189Ws with very little use.  A Pair of JJ ECC 83S which are brand new.  Two unmatched but new Electro-harmonix 12AX7s.  A new Sovtek 5U4.  Two new Sovtek 5AR4s.  Some miscellaneous American 12AX7, 12AU7, and 12AT7s, three sizes of tube dampers and some other miscellany.  I am asking $200 for everything.  But wait, there is more.  Also included is an Accurate Instruments Model 151 tube tester.  The tester has a minor issue that should be repairable.

One pair of 20 inch high speaker stands.  The top plate is 6.5 by. 7.5 inches.  There are nice sturdy stands.  They have been modded so that they can be (carefully) leveled while a speaker is in place. $40

One pair of Atacama speaker stands.  These are 28.5 inches high with a top plate that is 7 by 8 inches.  These have been filled with both shot and sand and are very heavy.  They've been stored in the garage for over ten years but would look nice with a quick coat of matte black paint. $50

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Clearing a few old items out of the basement -- FREE to a good home. Local St. Louis pickup only (I'm in the U.City area if that matters.)

A pair of LS3/5a clones from 1979 -- homemade oak veneer cabinets with original 15 ohm B110 drivers and generic soft-dome tweeter. Originally set up for active crossover but now has passive crossover. Worked last time I tried them but faceplate and driver seals probably need replacing.

Also giving away a Trends TA 10.1 power amp with power brick. (Originally used this as the amp for a nearfield desktop setup with these speakers.)

A friend has upgraded his system and has some nice gear he is going to sell.  I'm not sure where he set pricing he has been procrastinating on putting up ads.  If anyone is interested PM me and I can provide contact info or forward your info to him.

Audio Research Ref 6se preamp
Coda 07x preamp
He has two Coda 15.5 Class A power amplifiers.  These have been sent back to Coda to have the 16.0 output devices installed so they or basically a 16 in a 15.5 chassis.  I think only 100 watts Class A though so slightly less than the 16.

All of these are in great condition.  I've heard these items extensively.

Here are a few more items.  Please check out Part 1 above if you haven't already.

I purchased my Mark Levinson532h new.  It is in excellent cosmetic condition, works perfectly, and sounds great.  It sold new for $8,000; I am asking $3,000, which does not include any shipping or Paypal fees.  I believe that it is the least expensive 532h currently on the market.  I have the original box, manual, and pair of white gloves that came with it.  I have XLR, AC, and speaker cables that will work well with this amp also available.

I have two pairs of Wired4Sound's best XLR cables--one 2m pair and one 1m pair.  These cables use single crystal copper wire and are very good sounding.  Current retail price is $799 for both pairs.  I am asking $350.

These are all genuine Southwest Bell insulators.  I have used them as cable supports.  They very in height from about 3 inches to 4.5 inches.  All 13 are $70.

This Tripplite LC-1200 Voltage stabilizer is $40.

I have approximately 20 opera sets plus other individual opera CDs.  These are free to anyone who would like them.

I also have around 15 years or so of Hi-Fi+ magazines.  These are also free.

Please contact me with any questions or interest.  Thanks for checking out my ad.  Kent 636-399-8053
