The h/k is in your price range.  My h/k AVR 645 is a brute and has served me well for six years.

I have no qualms recommending anything from Yamaha or Marantz right now...

My budget is about $2000 .. I have B&W CM7's for mains and will be eventually completing the setup with CM1's and the center.
I'm thinking the Anthem MRX500 - any other good suggestions?

The Anthem is no slouch. The new Yamaha Aventage xx20 models seem to offer excellent value too. I have just ordered (in India equipment in this price range needs to be ordered) one Aventage 1020 and one Aventage 3020 (for 2 seperate systems). The have 4K pass though so there is some degree of 'future-proof-ness' although I wonder if India will leapfrog 4K and move from 2K directly to 8K. Outside of the Anthem and the Aventage (in the 2K range) I would consider the new Marantz 7007, NAD 757 and the Arcam 400 (depending on what features you find useful and how audio centric you are).
