I think the CT1 is one channel and CT2 is two channels. Not the quality issue. There is a CT-6 for 6 channels now.

I believe Dvb's LW-1 is CT2'ed LW-1 because I modded it for its previous owener.

Dvb's initial impression shows that the sonic signature of the line stage is even more so than the phono stage!!! That is why I want a more transparent and neutral line-stage, ie. no line stage.

Most built-in volume control implementation in CD players are pretty poor. UHF reviewed Linn Genki saying that the fixed output worth every cent of the CDN$2500 but the variable out made in sounded like a CDN$500 player. Our customer (Nathan who posted in AA) when evaluating the Cary 308, he said the built-in volume control at most doing 70% of the LW1S2 can do only even he needed an addition pair of I/C (which is a modest pair only).

I am 100% sure CT1 is the old version because I ordered it a few years back. DACT might have changed the naming later but you can see that they still list it here with picture of the CT1 on the review page.

Paul L is correct that I am using the LW1 that he modded with the DACT2 stepped attenuator.

I got confuse now. Wheh you click on CT1, it actually gives you CT2. When I studied them, I think I read the CT1 only available in one deck!

A few years back, the DACT website has infor on both the CT1 and CT2. My guess is that as time goes on, the volume of CT2 picked and the volume of the CT1 dropped, DACT decided to remove information on the CT1. I got both the CT1 and CT2 to check out about three years ago. At that time, if I want version other than stereo, then I need to put a -x after the model number. For example, CT2-4 would be a 4 deck version. The CT4 used to be for the input seclector.

You can read the review of the CT1 and it was a stereo version.

Even thought the CT2 is not as good as the CT1 (In my opinion of course), it is still a very good series stepped attennuator.
