Not having read more than the first few posts (how can something like that go on for 14 pages?), I'd say the honest thing to do would be ask the vendor to refund the return shipping cost and then send the one actually paid for.

It starts turning into an adventure lol....the OP starts really pushing the envelope, taking the things apart, putting them up for sale, etc, etc

I think he took down the video, but he initially had it to where you could see him reacting to the presence of the HE-6s in his room...it was pretty funny, I have to admit....but then the whole thing just started really getting odd

As some stated, it almost feels like he's a troll.  How is that not stealing?  I guess there are those who care about ethics.

I'm really interested to see what HifiMan says about the whole thing...that will be the punchline

After the phones have been disassembled, they can hardly sell them again even if they do get them back. What a horrible smell, I hope that guy is not a member here.

If he took them apart my first question is WHY???? That in itself is a strange move, in one move it ruins all his options.
Has hifiman responded??? I'm not on head-fi that much anymore so I didn't even notice it until Zeppster posted it here.......does anybody else agree with me that taking them apart was a bad move, an inconsistent move (wording it nicely) and adds a tilt your head and say "Wha..!!!" touch to it.......very weird...

Interesting how many posted "well, I am a person w/o morals" and then proceeded to say "Keep them".  Apparently the answer to "what to do" is more obvious than it seems.  Send them back...make it right.

Maybe people really do believe they "deserve" a break today.

That has been my experience as well. It seems all too common there.

I've only been checking out head-fi for a couple months, and while I've found a wealth of information about headphones and learned a lot, I find myself looking foward to coming back here to AC for a bit more calm and cordial interaction with others. It's too much like "headphone wars" over there sometimes.

+1,   HeadFi definitely seems to attract/keep/foster some bizarro stuff.   For a change of gears try Innerfidelity.com.   It's not "forum" based;  I just find it a lot more mature and Tyll is very level headed.
